since it's not on your teeth long enough for the whitening agents to work.
Thanks guys. My teeth are sensitive so how did you use hydrogen peroxide and baking soda? Did you just brush your teeth with it, rinse your teeth with it...?

baby face: try crest whitestrips. i used them last february and the results are just starting to fade. the only downside is a little bit of tooth sensitivity, other than that they work really well and are a steal at just 25 dollars.

PontificalPape: I've used many different products, and imho Crest White Strips are the best. I hate to help that corporation in any way, but the truth is, back when I would buy poisonous corporate crap & subject my body to it, I used those & they worked really well.

ldsantacruz: crest whitestrips work well. if you have sensitive teeth, however, like i do, they might not work that well. i personally really like the rembrandt 2 hour whitening system. you have the gel in the trays for 20 minutes at a time, and you can stop at any time up to 2 hours.

Minnesota Nice: Others have mentioned the best ways to go about with this. The baking soda and similar procedures are definitely more cost effective, but I have, along with others here apparently, had good success with Crest White Strips.
They are messy and a pain to keep on your mouth, but if you do them twice a day everyday like they recommend, your teeth will certainly become whiter, especially if you do it for a month.
Also, if you're a huge coffee drinker or smoker, that may limit the success of these products.
Good luck.

laraby9: All the answers here are good, so I'll just add that getting a regular dental cleaning every 6 months definitely helps keep your teeth whiter, and for longer. And, I've found that my whitening toothpastes usually do really seem to work at least a little. Right now I use Crest Sensitivity With Scope Whitening toothpaste.
Also, brush twice a day, if not after every meal. It gets the stuff off your teeth that causes discoloration in the first place.

Lu: I had cigarette stains with my teeth brown and blue. Stopped smoking. I used baking soda (make a paste by wetting toothbrush and dabbing it in my hand.) I also used hydrogen peroxide (found in whitening mouthwashes without the additive) I use Xylitol toothpase (no flouride) because it helps to maintain dental health (scientifically based). My teeth are getting back to original color of white.

smartgrl: brushing directly w baking soda can wear out ur enamel cause its pretty abrassive. brushing w hydrogen peroxide will make ur gums and teeth very sensitive. try aquafresh whitening trays , 30 min for 3 days if u have min. staining. it hardly causes sensitivity if u follow manufacturers instruction. use ACT mouthwash before use it will keep ur teeth strong and help a bit w sensitivity. regular whitening toothpaste has small amount of hygrogen peroxide, so its less effective. if u have heavy staining i recommend u get a prefessional cleaning and then start bleaching.
